Senate Appropriations Chairman Kurt Schaefer (Columbia) and House Majority Floor Leader Tim Jones (Eureka) delivered the Republican response to State of the State address. They called on Gov. Nixon to do more than just give speeches; instead, Nixon should get serious & work with the General Assembly to solve Missouri’s budget problems.
Koenig and Allen Seek Reelection
Representatives Andrew Koenig and Sue Allen Seek Reelection to the Missouri House
Manchester, MO- Today Representatives Andrew Koenig and Sue Allen announce their intention to seek reelection. Andrew Koenig will run for reelection in the newly drawn 99th district. Sue Allen will run for reelection in the newly drawn 100th district.
“I am running for re-election to a third term to continue fighting for limited and constitutional government. I have a solid record for fighting to lower taxes and protecting life from beginning at conception to natural death. I look forward to fight for my neighbors in the newly drawn 99th district,” said Andrew Koenig. I look forward to continuing to serve with Sue and helping on her reelection campaign.
“It is an honor to serve the people of St. Louis County. I am seeking reelection to continue my efforts for greater accountability and budgetary oversight in government. During the current period of extreme fiscal pressures on the state budget, the need to assure that taxpayer’s money is being used effectively could not be greater. I look forward to continuing serve the people of my district.” said Sue Allen. Andrew is one of the hardest working members I know and I fully support him in his reelection efforts.
Both Andrew Koenig and Sue Allen will continue to represent their current districts through the end of 2012.
Where’s Waldo…..and Jay Nixon?
Special session started this week and legislators moved proposals that dealt with local control of the St. Louis Police Department, disaster recovery funding and the Rainy Day Fund, presidential primary dates and of course economic development. Most of the attention was fixed on the economic development proposal that will reduce the state’s overall tax liability by $1.5 billion dollars over the next 15 years; however it appears other “details” of the plan are still being discussed in the Senate. There was one key absent observer all week – Gov. Jay Nixon. Earlier this summer Nixon was frantic to get in front of the cameras (as always) and tout the deal, however now, when the heavy lifting is needed in the legislature Nixon is nowhere to be found. This week both the St. Louis and Kansas City press cited Nixon’s support of the deal, but in efforts to get the deal done…..no Nixon.

“How Low Can They Go?”
Who wants to be in the House Democrat Minority Caucus?
5 months ago Missouri House Democrats were reeling from their Election Day Debacle which resulted in 17 seats switching hands. When the dust settled House Democrats were left with ONLY 57 of the total 163 members in the body. Today, their caucus stands at an even smaller margin with ONLY 54 members.
How did this happen? It appears any opportunity a Missouri House Democrat can find to jump ship they are aggressively pursuing, desperately looking for a life line. Three Democrats; Kiki Curls, Jake Zimmerman, and Jean Peters-Baker have all left for the
opportunity to serve elsewhere instead of completing their terms and staying in the House.
Additionally, House Democrats almost lost another when Jonas Hughes failed to pay back taxes and wasn’t able to be sworn in…the process took even longer when House Democrats refused to come to the aid of one of their own.
Stay tuned, we’ll see just “how low they can go”.
NEW VIDEO: “It’s Time to Lead!”
Missouri House Republicans released a new video today titled “It’s Time to Lead.”
Check out the video here: It’s Time to Lead
Governor Nixon continues to use great rhetoric and half-truths in order to paint a pretty picture about his job performance for Missourians. Under Nixon, Missouri has become the 3rd WORST STATE FOR JOB LOSS in the country. His continued lack of interest in doing the real and necessary work that Missouri needs is ridiculous. Missouri House Republicans call on the Governor to drop the fancy rhetoric, get off the side lines, roll up his sleeves, and get to work.
Governor Nixon, it is time to lead!
